Voice sub-agents
A team of voice agents. One conversation.
One agent welcomes callers, another handles appointments, and a third answers specialist questions. Connect your voice agents and define when each should take over.

Full agents with individual roles
Each sub-agent has its own instructions, functions, voice, and speech recognition, language and speech synthesis models. Tailor reception, booking and support to their respective needs.
Change the speaker, keep the call
The active agent hands the conversation to an associated agent in your workspace. A summary, recent exchanges and useful function results provide context. The receiving agent follows its own instructions, with a short sound marking the change of AI speaker.
Routes that lead back to the right agent
A sub-agent can call its own associated agents. On completion, it can return to the call’s main agent with a summary, or pass to another authorized agent. Returning to the main agent does not automatically return to the previous sub-agent.
Example: from reception to booking
Reception identifies an appointment request and hands it to the booking agent. That agent checks the connected calendar, offers a slot and waits for booking confirmation. It then returns to reception to finish the call or handle another question.
Asynchronous functions that move the call forward
Your agent can start an enabled function, such as checking a calendar, then use the result when it arrives. Asynchronous execution handles delayed results; an action is only described as successful after the tool confirms it.

Your questions answered
Can sub-agents have different voices?
Yes. Each agent keeps its own voice configuration and models. A handoff can automatically change the voice, instructions and available functions.
Does the caller need to call again or repeat everything?
The handoff happens within the same call. A summary and a limited recent history help the next agent continue. It may ask for clarification when information is missing.
Does this work with every voice engine?
Handoffs between full agents are available for agents configured with Pipecat. Associated agents must belong to the same workspace. You choose the connections and the situations that trigger a handoff.
